Mr. Marshall Lynn Spraglin, Sr.

Marshall was born in Paris, Texas, Lamar County, to the parentage of Robert Flowers and Louise Ashley Spraglin.

Marshall graduated in 1988 from Paris High School and later attended Jarvis Christian College, where he became a member of Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Marshall also met the love of his life, Shannon Vaughn Spraglin, there at JCC in 1989. Marshall and Shannon married on September 17, 1994, and two children were born to this union.

At an early age Marshall attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Paris, Texas. Marshall later became a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Robert E. Murphy in Dallas, Texas in 1994. Marshall and his family eventually became members of Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Richard E. Rollerson, Jr., and Marshall was later baptized in 2009. Recently, Marshall and his wife restored their membership back to Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lesley Booker Sr. where Marshall worshipped until his transition to be with God.

Marshall leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Shannon Vaughn Spraglin; two daughters, Brittany Black (Josh), Tashalyn Owens (Serrick); one son, Marshall Lynn Spraglin II; three, granddaughters: Azhia, Legaci, and Olivia; three sisters, Loretta Bills (Rodrick), Jonetta Black (Ashanti), Brenda Spraglin; three brothers, Rickey Spraglin, Arthur Spraglin, Anthony Spraglin; mother & father in-law, Robert & Patricia Roland Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Reverend Roosevelt Moses Brown was born to George and Alice Brown in Terrell, Texas. He was the second son younger brother to George. He worked at United American Insurance for 30 Years. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters Dana Haynes of Forney, Tx and Savoy Grimes (Kevin) of Dallas, Tx; sons De”Mon Brown (Jaylin) and Roosevelt Brown, Jr. of Cedar Hill, Tx: and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Willie B. Smith long time resident passed on September 7, 2024 in his home surrounded with his family at his bedside. He leaves to cherish his memories with a number of relatives and loved ones.

Vernell Nixon

02-12-1947 to 08-22-2024

Vernell Nixon departed this life on August 20, 2024. She was born to the parents of Presley George) Cooper and Annie Mae Davis, February 12, 1947.

A special salute to her stepfather Sonny Rogers. Vernell is survived by one living sibling, Robert Lee Cooper, but was preceded in transition by her parents, her three sisters, Ethel Qualls, Mildred Polk, and Betty Rusk, and her brother Peter Cooper.

Vernell was baptized an an early age, and attended New Birth Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, under the leadership of Reverend Pryor.

Vernell had a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. We would be remiss not to mention her special Godson Larry (Danny) Qualls, whom she’s helped raise from birth.
Vernell was truly loved, and will be missed by all.

Lillie Garrett Johns

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, Miss Lillie V. Garrett White Johns pulled off
her mortal body and put on immortality and went home to live with our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ.

Lillie V. was born to the parentage of the late Will and Mattie Pollard Garret on
September 11, 1937. She grew up in Kaufman County. She attended the
Cartwright school in Wills Point, TX. She married Billy White, and to this union,
three children were born.

She worked and retired from the Terrell State Hospital. She loved fellowshipping
with the seniors at the senior center in Kaufman, TX. She was a great fisherman.
She loved her hobbies and enjoyed them daily.

As a child, she attended the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She later joined the
Macedonia Baptist Church in Kaufman. She attended the New Life Baptist Church
in Terrell until her health failed her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Mattie Garrett; 3 infant girls;
brothers, Willie T, Marvin Garrett, and Austin Garrett; sisters, Bertha Lee Garrett,
Wilson Lee, Juanita Garrett Hartfield, Mineola Garrett Anderson; sons, Kenneth
Wayne White, Sr., 3 infants; grandson, Kenneth Wayne White Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Linda Joyce White, Debra Denise
White Robinson (Jerry) of Seattle, Washington, Lavisha Johns Williams (Chris) of
Mesquite, TX, and Debron Johns King of Terrell, TX; sister, Alice F. Miles of Elmo,
TX; brother, Ray Lee Garrett of Terrell, TX; 12 grandchildren, Melodie White-
Kembol (Kimutai), Talaundra White – Alex (Jonathan), Sharonda McCarver-Johnson
(Jason), Terrence White, Roy McCarver Jr (Michelle), Kawana White, Porsha Johns,
Mia Johns, Badarrius Johns, Camille King, Lucius King, Canisha Hickman, and
Keithian Alexander; 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; a special
friend, Gene Willis, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
